Description
Ecotricity’s Energy Outlook
Presented by Asif Rehmanwala, Wholesale Director, Ecotricity Limited
Abstract: The energy market has transitioned from one that was not at the forefront of people’s minds to one where every domestic price change from energy supply companies makes headline news. Why is this? Not so long ago the UK energy market was in a place where we experienced low oil, gas and power prices, uncontrolled use of fossil fuels and a nationalized industry. Within a decade, the landscape has changed. Following privatization, we have seen increased oil prices directly impacting UK energy prices. There has been both fragmentation and concentration of generation in the UK, a move to a sustainable low carbon agenda and many government policies. All of these factors have resulted in a more complex and dynamic market that now playsa big part in many people’s lives from environmental issues to impact on disposableincome. The next few years will shape the outlook for the next generation. We are currently in the middle of this, which direction will the market take?
