About this event
Ecstatic Awakening Dance™
with Epona Ford
EAD is an enjoyable and powerful way to get out of the thinking-whirlwind mind and Back Into Your Body!
Does the word "dance" make you feel uncomfortable?
Then engage with "Ecstatic Awakening Dance" as this:
Joyous Freeing Movement because that's exactly what EAD is!
Do you feel set-free when you get out of your head and into your body through movement?
Do you feel empowered when your feet STOMP, your heart BEATS and your spirit SOARS to the rhythm of music?
Do you feel elated when you move any way you want to?
If the answer's, "Yes!" then it's time to be courageous, and step with breath, kindness and open-curiosity into a special space to experience this unique method for yourself.
ONLINE Sessions
----------What You Need To Know---------
I will be offering this class in English.
I have sight loss, so please be comfortable communicating with everyone via your voice and microphone.
Duration - approx 2hr max.
Waiting Room will be in use.
"Doors Open" 5mins before official Start time.
Meeting Room Locked - 5mins after official Start Time
Microphones are OFF for participants until the sharing circle. At that point , I'll invite you, one at the time, to offer a word or a couple sentences to sum up your experience of the session.
I request a camera ON for the beginning of the meeting - if your camera is not on you will be booted from the meeting. Our Cameras are ON for the sharing circle at the end.
Turning on our camera's to begin and end the session helps form group trust, connection, and a shared experience together.
Participants can switch their cameras off during the actual EAD Method if they wish to. Turning it off can help you to let-go better. If you're a naturist, you can take clothes off at this point with no surprises for anyone else! Please remember to return to whatever garments you had on at the start of the session for the Sharing Circle though.
If you're new to free-movement classes, relax! There's no right or wrong way to move - you can dance like nobody's watching - because no one actually is!
This method is about YOUR body & breath moving YOU in an instinctual way with rhythm and music.
Wear loose clothing you can easily move in.
Choose a place you wont be disturbed and you can create a welcoming space with soft lighting.
If you'd like to light a candle with me, then have one prepared in a safe area that wont be knocked over, burn the building down, etc.
You need an obstacle-free floorspace, so make sure any Lego, pens and pet toys are put away!
EAD is best experienced in your bare feet. Next best thing is "yoga/pilates socks" that have non-slip soles. If you want to wear shoes, avoid types with foam cushioning as this causes instability and insecurity when your moving.
Ecstatic Awakening Dance™ is done with our eyes closed, or half-open. Why? This is an internal journey with yourself, and for yourself - it's a dance of the body that opens us to our joyous nature and to Life.
The sharing circle's an opportunity to speak from the heart; to share, be heard and witnessed. There is no feedback from anyone; no fixing or giving advice/response to another's sharing when it is your time to share. We are all there to listen and witness each other with openness - like the space surrounding us, supporting and bringing connection amongst us all.
The 2 breathing techniques that we use are two types of circular breathing. They are given as supportive tools that you can choose to use or not - it's up to you.
It is wise if people with the following bring it to my attention:
⦁ Artificial Pacemaker
⦁ Pregnancy
Your body is ultimately your responsibility.
You know if you need to consult your doctor/consultants before embarking on something new; and you are also most welcome to contact me about any uncertainties concerning yourself participating in the EAD method before comitting to sign-up.
Listen to your body rather than your head during our session as your body is your greatest advisor for your health and wellbeing! Always listen to your body, and treat yourself with kindness.
Frequently asked questions
It's movement without words, which comes from breath, rhythm and the instinctive expression of your own body. Mainly done with the eyes closed, as you're gently guided through its 5 Stages: Warm-up - The Shake - Ecstatic Dance - Stillness - Grounding. This is a safe space to explore & experience.
No. There are 5 stages to the session; at each stage I’ll give an introduction, and demo the basic technique used BUT there is no right or wrong way to move! It’s simply about allowing your own instinctive energy to move you in whatever way it feels and takes shape!
Enjoy finding your own unique way of expressing yourself through movement. Release body tension, lower stress, and slow down the mind in a wonderfully, enjoyable way! Experience inner journeys, liberation, sensuality, playfulness, joy, emotional release & everything else in between!
Ideally, eat your main meal 2hrs beforehand. A small snack 30min before starting should be okay. Remove heavy jewellery/earrings and watches [projectiles]. This session is for you to switch-off, help create this by SILENCING your Smart Devices. Bring a towel - sweat happens - and a bottle of water.
