Ecstatic Kabbalah: Journey Through Mystical Tradition and Practice

Embark on a six-week exploration of the ecstatic Kabbalah, tracing its vibrant development from the formative teachings of the Sefer Yetzirah and the philosophical framework of Maimonides, through its emergence in 12th- and 13th-century Germany and Spain. The course will explore how this tradition evolved through its encounter and engagement with the Maimonidean Sufis (Hasidei Mitzrayim), as well as through confluence, synthesis, and integration with Safedian and Lurianic Kabbalah. We will illuminate the continuing journey of the ecstatic Kabbalah as it finds new expression and depth in the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and the Hasidic movement. Throughout, participants will actively engage with the experiential and practical dimensions of the ecstatic Kabbalah, making its timeless wisdom accessible and transformative for the modern seeker.
