Derek Gow

Derek Gow is a farmer, ecologist and reintroductions specialist who works on rewilding from a species perspective. He is a specialist in water vole mitigation, breeding and reintroduction; and has also been involved in some beaver reintroductions. He has recently decided to re-wild 120 acres of his own farm, with plans to introduce feral cattle, pigs and ponies "in an effort to provide a tangible example of how without significant issue a landscape can be reshaped to become one which balances my own interests with the critical needs of wildlife as well".

Ploughlands Legacy Award

This Award will be presented annually to an individual or a group, whose actions have contributed significantly to the conservation of the rivers and lakes of the River Eden catchment.
