About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

This Eden Volunteering & Community Fair will take place on Friday 7th June from 12noon-1.30pm at Penrith Parish Centre, St Andrews Place, Penrith.

Your organisation is invited to book onto the Eden Volunteering and Community Fair, organised by Cumbria CVS as part of Volunteers’ Week 2024. Set up will begin from 11.15am and each organisation will be offered a table and chairs to promote their organisation.

This event aims to attract the general public to come along and to meet local groups, charities or organisations to find out about their work, local volunteering opportunities, the different support and advice community organisations have to offer and how individuals interested in volunteering can register and become a volunteer. We also encourage community organisations to make their stalls interactive to encourage the general public to engage in conversations about volunteering or community support in Eden.

By attending the event the general public will find out more about which organisations are looking to recruit new volunteers, the wide range of local volunteering opportunities available, when and where volunteers are needed and how to become a volunteer. They will also learn about different community organisations and their work and support available.

We kindly ask that each organisation that attends brings displays, posters, leaflets, information about their organisation, and application forms to hand out to potential volunteers. We ask organisations to attend for the full event and to talk to any individuals about:

*What your organisation does

*Volunteering opportunities available

*Time commitment and when and where volunteers are needed

*How volunteers can register to become a volunteer

*Support and activities available from community groups

Places will be confirmed after the closing date of 23 April 2024. Please book early so this will allow time for publicity and posters to be produced for the event. Priority bookings will go to Cumbria CVS members and organisations on the Volunteering in Cumbria Portal.

We ask all organisations to register on the new Volunteering in Cumbria portal as we will be encouraging volunteers who attend the event to register on the portal to volunteer and to apply to organisations (https://volunteering.cumbriacvs.org.uk)

This event is part of our This Is Us project, made possible by Westmorland and Furness Council through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
