Description

As part of Piazzi Smyth Syposium (2-4 Septmber 2019) we will embark on an exploratory walk along the Royal Mile, the Mound, George Street and up to Calton Hill, discovering Edinburgh's rich Astronomical past (and present).

Matjaz Vidmar (Science, Technology and Innovation Studies / Royal Observatory Edinburgh) will lead us along a part of the route traced by the Curisou Edinbrugh's History of Astronomy tour (http://curiousedinburgh.org/history-of-astronomy-tour/) making up other interesting "facts" as we go along.

You can join (or leave) any time you like, but in partticula, you will find us along the following spots:

  • 12.30 in front of Camera Obscura (Royal Mile)
  • 13.00 opposite National Gallery (Princess Street)
  • 14.00 in front of South entrance to Calton Hill (City) Observatory
