'Places, people and planning: Consultation on the future of the Scottish planning system' is a Scottish Government consultation running until 4/4/2017.
Here at Leith Links Community Council we want to receive & consider further information before we compile our response. However, we feel that there would be some value in bringing together Community Councils from across Edinburgh to share knowledge, views, outlook and experiences which would help us all formultate our responses.
We recognise that this event is being held at short notice, it was felt that the event should be held in February, as this would allow individual Community Councils the month of March to put togther their responses.
We are grateful to Planning Democracy, an SCIO working for a fair and inclusive planning system in Scotland for their input.
Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
The agenda is as follows:
- 18:00 - Attendees are welcome to attend for coffee & networking
- 18:30 - Welcome & opening remarks
- 18:35 - Planning Democracy presentation
- 19:00 - Presentation (TBC)
- 19:30 - Table discussions
- 20:15 - Feedback from the table discussions
- 20:30 - Closing remarks
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Did you consult with Edinburgh Association of Community Councils?
Yes, we discussed the idea with EACC and having established that there was no planned city wide event, we organised this event and opened it up to fellow Community Councils.
Why organise the event?
There were two thoughts about this, (1) that we ourselves wanted more information and to hear the views of others before preparing our response and (2) that we think there is some merit in bringing together Community Councils to have a shared conversation on the topic.
Why is there such short notice?
It was felt that the event had to go ahead in February, this would then allow Community Councils to share in the conversation before they met in March to consider/finalise their individual responses to the consultation.
Who can attend?
Any Community Councillor from an Edinburgh Community Council can attend. The venue can hold 100 people. The closer we get to that number the better, It would be useful to have every Community Council in attendance.
