How long is the walk?

The route from Colinton Dell to Balerno is roughly 4–5 miles, depending on the pace and any extra stops along the way. We’ll take it at a relaxed, enjoyable pace suitable for most fitness levels.

How long will it take?

Expect around 2–3 hours, including time to enjoy the scenery, the famous Colinton Dell Tunnel, and any rest stops.

Is it suitable for beginner and older walkers?

Absolutely! The walk is gentle with some mild hills, and I’ll adjust the pace to make it accessible for everyone.

Yes! Well-behaved dogs, who are friendly to other humans are welcome, but please keep them on a lead where needed and bring water/snacks for them too. Dog cuddles will be provided!

Is it ok if I'm late?

Try to arrive on time for the coffee/tea meet-up at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre so you don’t miss anything. If you are late, DM me and I’ll let you know where we are.

Is there a toilet on the route?

Yes! The Water of Leith Visitor Centre has toilets before we start. There aren’t public toilets along the trail, so after that- it's a bush wee!

Is the walk suitable in bad weather?

We walk rain or shine, but I’ll assess safety in extreme conditions. Bring a raincoat and good footwear, just in case!
