This walk hits the sweet spot between fresh air, greenery, and that “escape the city” feeling- without actually straying too far from Edinburgh.
We’ll start with a coffee from Pentlands Cafe Express before setting off, and later there’s an option to stop at Loganlea Fishing Café for another cuppa or snack. Toilets are available at the start of the walk.
🌱 About the Walk
Duration:
Around 4 hours if we include Carnethy Hill, or about 3 hours if we stick to the reservoir loop.
Pace:
Gentle and steady from Flotterstone Inn to Glencorse and Loganlea Reservoir, with plenty of breaks for tea, snacks, and soaking up the views.
If the group decides to tackle Carnethy Hill, the path is well-trodden but steep and uneven—definitely a leg-burner! Totally worth it for the panoramic views of the Pentlands, Edinburgh, and beyond, plus all the endorphins.
Route & Options:
If we skip Carnethy Hill, the walk will go from Flotterstone → Glencorse → Loganlea Reservoir (coffee stop optional) → back along the same path.
If the group chooses Carnethy Hill, we’ll create a loop up and around the hill. The whole group must agree—no one gets left behind!
🌱 Group Style
This isn’t a guided tour—it’s a shared adventure. I’ll loosely organise the walk and keep us on track, but the route is shaped by the group. Expect lots of chat, nature connection, and the occasional spontaneous photo stop.
We’ll meet at 10:15am outside Pentlands Cafe Express for a brief chat and route overview before setting off. Look for the girl with the buzzed hair—that’s me!
