Neil Allison - Head of Prospective Student Web

The Prospective Student Web Team consists of: content design, user experience, performance analysis and software development specialists. Together we evolve and manage the University of Edinburgh’s website provision for people interested in undergraduate and postgraduate study. This is quite a privileged situation – few in our sector and no one else in our organisation are set up like this. In this session, I will give an overview of how we work; the opportunities our set up provides and the challenges that still remain.

Ways to create a more inclusive and considerate hiring process

Hiring practices tend to be rife with exclusivity, from disadvantaging people with limited free time to favouring highly confident personalities. This talks shares how a human-centred design team at the University of Edinburgh have been evolving their recruitment process to make it more inclusive and fair to candidates, and how you can adopt these practices, too.

We tend to think of usability testing as the domain of UX specialists. However, the ability to test content in the real world is a skill all of us who work with digital content should have in our toolbox.
