Inclusive education in practice: Making reasonable adjustments that work

Creating an inclusive environment isn’t just a legal obligation, it’s essential for pupil wellbeing and success. This practical session will help schools confidently meet their Equality Act duties while embedding simple, effective strategies that make a real difference for students with diabilities.

What you'll learn:

  • The framework for disability discrimination and what “reasonable adjustments” really mean in practice
  • How to apply behaviour policies and sanctions fairly while considering individual needs
  • Practical strategies for embedding inclusive routines and approaches into everyday school life
  • How small, simple changes can transform pupil engagement, movement, and wellbeing

Our guest speaker, Sarah-Jayne Walker, Director and Lead Professional at Naomi’s Garden, will share real examples and actionable steps to help schools remove barriers and create meaningful inclusion without adding extra workload.

This session is designed as an open forum, giving schools and professionals the chance to discuss current challenges, share best practice, and receive practical guidance from our education team and Sarah-Jayne.

Who is this event aimed at?

Inclusion isn’t just for SENCOs or senior leaders, it’s a whole school approach. Every member of staff has a role in creating an environment where pupils with disabilities can thrive. This event will benefit headteachers, senior leadership teams, SENCOs, teachers, support staff, as well as school governors and trustees.
