Description

Local schools face spending cuts per pupil and loss of teachers.

Will the learning and school wellfare of pupils and students suffer? Will teachers and ancillary staff be made redundant?

Will school governors and parents oppose the cuts and support the schools and their teachers?

The panel of local headteachers, educational funders, and educationasl trade unions will address these issues and discuss questions and ideas with the audience. In the chair will be The Mayor of Malvern, Councillor Cynthia Palmer.

Panel members: Stuart Sewell, former headteacher of Somers Park Primary School and recent CEO of the local community multi-academy trust Mercian Educational Trust (MET); Sean McCauley, Joint Divisionasl Secretary, National Education Union (NEU), National Union of Teachers (NUT) section,Worcestershire: Bryan Allbutt, Chair of the Church of England Worcester Diocesan Board of Education (100 church schools, many in Malvern area); briefing paper from the Chase School (Secondary School Academy).

This is the eighth Lansdowne Question Time event in the bi-annual series of public debate-discussions. The programme is run by Lansdowne Crescent Methodist Church, Malvern in association with EngageMalvern (registered charity no.1175088), with the objects of community capacity building and the advancement of education for public benefit in Malvern and surrounding areas.
