Description

Big questions in Educational Research

Join us at our Easter term Education Group social event for an evening of stimulating discussions and networking, wine and food. Following three very successful events, this is an opportunity to engage with two Hughes Hall Scholars working in the field of education.

Dr Sonia Ilie has extensive experience of working on projects related to inequalities in access to, and outcomes of, education. Working with big data sets pertaining to both England and developing economies, she is a quantitative whizz! She has previously worked as a data analyst on the TALIS 2013 national report for England, on projects concerning fair access to university in the UK, as well as a range of projects related to student attainment in mathematics, school effectiveness, and school leadership.

Dr Matthew Somerville brings together interesting insights based on his work as a teacher, teacher educator, special education adviser, and educational psychologist across five different countries. Most of his research focuses on the social and emotional aspects of learning and supporting children with diverse needs in different national contexts. He uses both quantitative and qualitative methods and successfully bridges the divide between research and practice by being a non-armchair academic!

And as with previous events, there will be the opportunity to network with seniors, students and alumni.

Finger food and wine/soft drinks will be provided.

We hope to welcome you to this event.
Dr Nidhi Singal, Dr Pete Dudley (Fellows), Annemarie Young (Associate)
