This is a one day course but split into a separate morning and afternoon session with time away from the screen for some individual work.

About this event

This training is funded by Staffordshire County Council.  To access this session for FREE you must be a member of Support Staffordshire.  We reserve the right to charge you for your ticket if you are not a member.

FREE places are restricted to TWO per organisation for this session so please check with your organisation before booking.  Additional names can be added to a waiting list.

Who is this for:

Those who are new to bid writing and want in depth knowledge and skills. Those who have some bid writing experience but wish to refresh their knowledge or further refine their skills.


In a world of funding cuts, effective bid writing is increasingly important for organisations to be successful. This course will give you some practical techniques and guidelines to enable you to make the most of funding opportunities.

Topics include:

    • Funder criteria – how do you match what they are looking for?
    • Effective methods of writing applications and presentation.
    • How to evidence need
    • How to answer key questions well
    • Project budgeting
    • Why applications fail and how to improve your chances of success 

Please note the following instructions, particularly in reference to Covid-19 measures

  • We will not be providing refreshments so please bring anything, including your own drinks.
  • Please bring your own notepad and pens and anything else you might require.
  • You will be required to wear a face covering unless exempt whilst moving around the building. This does not include sitting at your table where you may remove it for the purposes of engaging in training but you will need to wear it when visiting the toilet and moving around generally. You are welcome to continue wearing your face covering whilst seated if that is your preference.
  • We will attempt to ventilate our space as well as we can, this may include opening windows provided it isn’t too cold.
  • Please adhere to this and stay 2 metres away from anyone else wherever possible.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available as you enter the building and the room.
  • You will receive all materials relating to the course electronically afterwards. This is to prevent any unnecessary contamination by passing materials around.
  • Do let us know if you have any additional needs we should be aware of.
