At a time of rising Islamophobia and terrorist incidents in the West, this workshop explores how mosques and Islamic organisations communicate effectively internally and externally ensuring that they build bridges with stakeholders in the wider society.

Who is it for?

  • Volunteers and individuals active in their community

  • Mosque and centre representatives seeking to improve their communication and engagement with the wider society

  • Anyone else who wants to understand how they can contribute to their community in a structured way

Speakers Profiles:

Tazud Miah

Tazud Miah is a member of Toastmasters International (TMI), a world leading communications and leadership development organisation. He is a former President of Early Bird Speakers (a chapter of Toastmasters International). In 2014 he won the TMI UK-South Humorous Speaking competition and in 2017 he won the TMI UK-South Evaluation Competition.

By profession, Tazud is a Software Product Manager; he has a passionate interest in mentoring and supporting talented individiuals. In 2001, he was a founding committee member of Newham Youth Link, a youth project intended to help young people. Tazud is also a Trustee for the Jawziyyah Institute and most recently is working on "Beautiful Connections", an initiative intended to revamp Islamic Education for Children.

Khaled Moyeed

Khaled Moyeed is a member of the committee at Masjid Ayesha Tottenham where he played an active part in its rebuilding project helping to raise £1.2million. He regularly organises events connecting the mosque with its wider community. He began his career as a community organiser in a voluntary organisation and has many years of experience working with statutory and voluntary sector organisations, faith groups and youth bodies. He set up Haringey’s Faith Forum and managed many projects for Muslim youth in North London.

Khaled currently works as a consultant solicitor at the London Law Practice specialising in international arbitration, litigation and charity law. He trained at a leading international law firm called Herbert Smith Freehills and worked in its Dubai and Doha offices.

Harun Rashid Khan

Harun Khan is the first British born Secretary General of the MCB. He has been a volunteer of the organisation since its inauguration in 1997 and has served various roles as Chair of the London Committee, Treasurer and Deputy Secretary General. Harun is a civil engineer by profession, currently working as a senior manager at Transport for London and has been delivering transport improvements in London for more than 27 years. Harun is passionate about ensuring that Muslims can go about their daily lives as confident citizens who play an active role in creating a better society for everyone.
