This session is designed to support reception staff in improving their confidence and communication skills

About this event

This is an online session and will take place over Microsoft Teams for 2 hours

This course is aimed at reception / admin staff who are first point of contact for patients, however is open to all General Practice staff.

This session is designed to refresh reception staff’s knowledge of communication skills to enable them to get the best out of communicating with patients and work effectively as care navigators.

It is a fun interactive session but does not contain role play so don’t stress over that! We will look at the communication skills you use every day and build on those skills. The session is intended to provoke thinking about how we respond to patients in different situations and how by adjusting our response we can achieve different conversational outcomes. To aid this we will discuss ‘the circle of control’ and how, by using this tool, we can not only strengthen our personal resilience but also learn different ways of approaching our daily workload.

This 2 hour session is suitable for reception staff, especially those who are new to working in primary care as receptionists
