Description

Overview

To interact or not to interact? That is the question! How should we intervene? When should we intervene? Where should we intervene? Should we intervene at all? This course will discuss the art of effective interactions versus ineffective interruptions. There will be opportunities for professional discussions, active learning and to visit the Foundation Stage Unit to put skills and theory into practice.

The course will include:

  • Identifying how children learn best and different styles of teaching and learning
  • Identifying the aspects of the 7 Areas of Learning.
  • Discussing the Characteristics of Effective Learning – what are they? What do they look like in practice? How can they be observed and assessed accurately?
  • Practical ideas for promoting the Characteristics of Effective Learning.
  • Observing and challenging children in their development of Characteristics of Effective Learning.
  • What are effective interactions?
  • What are ineffective interruptions?
  • How to identify opportunities for effective interactions.
  • What to observe and how to observe it effectively.
  • How good quality observations and interactions can move learning forward and ensure progress.
  • How to plan next steps by using evidence from effective interactions and observations.
