Event description

Description

Effective Leadership of CPD

It is clear from case study evidence that effective professional learning does not just happen by accident. Organisations that are successful in establishing a culture of professional learning do so by careful leadership and management of professional development opportunities.  The effective, strategic leadership of continuing professional development (CPD) improves the quality of teaching and learning, leads to school improvement and raises standards of pupil achievement.  The programme of learning will explore:

  • The role of leaders in supporting and promoting a culture of CPD linked to improvement;
  • The research evidence about adult learning and effective professional development;
  • Professional development linked to school improvement and impact;
  • Collaborative learning within and across schools;
  • Creating and developing professional learning communities and coaching cultures;
  • Planning and carrying out impact evaluation of CPD;
  • Using data to monitor the cost-effectiveness and added value of CPD.
