Truro and Penwith College would like to invite all mentors of current apprentices to attend a training session in Effective Mentoring that will support you to evaluate your current practice and develop an understanding of how to optimise the success of your workplace mentoring programme.

The training will take place at the STEM and Health Skills Centre in Bodmin on 21st May 2025, with registrations from 09:15 and the training beginning at 9:30 and ending at 12:00.

The session content will include -

  • Developing an understanding of what mentoring is and the distinctions from training and coaching.
  • Developing an understanding of the scope and limits of the mentoring role.
  • Personal reflection on own experiences as a mentor and mentee
  • Stages of development and reflection on each how mentoring can support a learning journey
  • Adding value as a mentor and tracking progress (including recording processes).
  • Identification of different mentoring styles
  • Pre-empting potential barriers to successful mentoring and ways to overcome them.
  • The support available from Truro and Penwith College to you and your apprentice
