About this Event

This event is a must for anyone involved in the self-assessment process. Most of us find it daunting being responsible for producing the self-assessment report whether at organisational, type of provision or subject level. We often find it hard to articulate and evidence what we are good at and need to improve. We often worry that our judgements might be too optimistic or too negative, or not what we should really be commenting about in relation to the EIF. Too often, self-assessment is seen as a once a year chore rather than a fascinating and ongoing process that continues to drive improvements for learners. The resulting action plan, which should be a live document used by all staff to focus on the important issues that will deliver improvement, often fails to do so.

The impact of this can be seen in Ofsted reports which comment that leaders and managers do not know their provision and have failed to ensure that all learners and apprentices have consistently good outcomes and experiences.

This workshop will help delegates understand how to effectively self-assess and action plan and help them find ways to easily do both as part of their provision’s ongoing systems.

Delivered by Marina Gaze, a highly experienced Ofsted inspector, improvement consultant and sector lead.

This workshop will cover:

• What makes a good self-assessment report

• Writing an impactful self-assessment report against the Education Inspection Framework

• Gathering evidence throughout the year and having an ongoing self-assessment process

• Ensuring all staff understand the strengths and areas for improvement of their provision by involving them in the self-assessment process

• Ensuring action planning is effective and rapidly drives improvements at all levels of the organisation.
