Description

Effective use of photography and video for dementia awareness and education

Presenters: Corinne Maunder, Australia and Professor Cathy Greenblat, USA

Following independent success creating visual materials to increase awareness of dementia, Cathy Greenblat (photographer) and Corinne Maunder (filmmaker) have collaborated on several projects, including a trilogy of award-winning short documentaries that illustrate gold star care in Australian and American dementia care communities. Their workshop will offer inspiration, ideas, and practical guidelines for the development and use of multimedia materials to raise awareness and provide information about dementia, including:

- How to find and tell inspiring and engaging stories that create social impact

- Stories vs statistics: blending storytelling with educational information

- Using multimedia to improve accessibility for people with an impairment or language barrier

- How to draft your own story using photo and film to enlighten and inspire people to act

PLEASE NOTE: If you are traveling with a laptop or tablet, you may find it useful to bring for the session but it is not essential. Alternatively if you wish to bring a USB stick to download materials from the presenters, that is fine.

LANGUAGE: English only.
