How to build and be a part of a highly efficient team

Why are some teams more efficient than others? What are the components of building a great team? How can you contribute to this greatness? In this talk I will give insight to these questions. I will also focus on how every team member can contribute to making the team highly efficient by using and enhancing your relational skills. I will use examples from the consultancy Webstep and from our projects.

About Kjell Ljöstad:

Kjell Ljøstad has got 19 years of experience from the IT-industry. He worked as a software consultant on big projects, prior to his transition to sales and management. During the last 12 years he has spent a lot of time building efficient teams at Microsoft and Webstep. This work has convinced him of the importance of allowing all team members to voice their opinion, and of the significance of every team member pulling their share of the load. With this in place, we are in a good position to achieve great results.

Tackling legacy code

Legacy code is something every programmer ends up working with during ones career. Most find it difficult if not outright scary. Yet, with knowledge, it can be quite rewarding and fun. During this session I will present a collection of techniques that I tend to use when working with legacy systems.

About Tomas Malmsten:

I am a passionate software craftsman with a weak spot for legacy code. After almost twenty years in the business I’ve seen my fair share of dreadful code. I’ve also learnt to love the challenge that legacy code presents. Being able to transform bad legacy systems to agile solutions which provide real value for the users. I am also the founder of Øresund Software Craftsmanship Group. I tend to code in Java for money, and Clojure when I have time and energy to code for pleasure.
