Event description

Description

Inspired the boycotting of the first Boy Scout Rally in 1909 by the first GirlGuides, and by historical figures such as Vera Laughton Matthews and Anne Cobden-Sanderson, whose work ties the two movements together, the 'Egham GirlGuides and the Suffragettes' project seeks to explore the shared history between the Suffragettes and GirlGuiding movements.

This Event Day offers insight into what the Egham GirlGuides have learnt during their project, and will celebrate the global launch of their 'Modern Suffragette' GirlGuiding Badge. There will be taster workshops, stalls, activities, food and fun, and the chance to explore not only aspects of our local history, but also relevant issues such as notions of citizenship and equality.

This day has been designed to suit seconday school aged children, but tea and talk is also available for grown-ups!
