Ein Bwyd a'n Diod - Dod o Hyd i'r bylchau.

Mae Ynys Môn a'r Gogledd Orllewin bob amser wedi dod o hyd i'r cilfachau a'r cyfleoedd hynny yn y sector bwyd a diod! O dyfu mathau newydd o fewn Garddwriaeth i ysbrydoli Cogyddion, i ddatblygu blas ar ystod cordial Ynys Môn, pob un yn seiliedig ar ddeall yr hyn y mae cwsmeriaid ei eisiau.

Bydd y tri siaradwr yn siarad am eu taith yn y sector, sut y gwnaethon nhw ddarganfod a datblygu eu ‘bylchau’, sut maen nhw'n gweld sector y dyfodol yn datblygu a lle gallai'r bylchau fod.

Mae gyrfa 30 mlynedd Greg Parson yn y diwydiant bwyd a diod yn cynnwys Whitbread plc, Unilever, Dairy Crest ac yn ddiweddarach roedd yn aelod sefydlol o Somerset Larder, y canolbwynt bwyd a diod a grëwyd i wasanaethu Hinkley Point. Mae Greg bellach yn gweithio gyda Menter Môn ar y prosiect Mon Larder yn edrych ar gydraddoldeb darpariaeth o fewn caffael cyhoeddus a chreu cyfleoedd ar gyfer busnesau bwyd a diod yng Ngogledd Cymru.

Mae Liam Barrie wedi gweithio yn y sector lletygarwch am oddeutu 10 mlynedd. Mae Liam yn hanner tîm Barrie Brothers sydd wedi datblygu bwyty Marram Grass o gaffi sy'n gwasanaethu pobl ar eu gwyliau i fwyty gwych sy'n hyrwyddo cynnyrch lleol. Mae'r busnes bellach ar ei ail gam yn ei ddatblygiad a fydd yn cynnwys bwyty yn Lerpwl, ehangu'r Fat Pig Company a datblygu academi ysgol goginio ymhellach.

Mae Alwyn Williams wedi gweithio gyda'i dad Medwyn am gyfnod tra roedd yn dilyn gyrfa yn y Fyddin. Pan adawodd Alwyn yn 2008, daeth yn bartner lawn-amser, gan ddod â datblygiad a thechnoleg i'r ardal dyfu, wrth gynnal treftadaeth ac ansawdd eu stoc hadau sy'n cael ei brynu ledled y byd. Mae Alwyn yn gredwr mawr mewn tyfu i'r hyn sydd ei angen ar gwsmeriaid ac mae'n helpu tyfwyr eraill i gyflawni eu potensial. Mae hefyd yn credu bod dod â mwy o bobl i'r sector NAWR yn brif flaenoriaeth ac yn gyfle enfawr.

Our Food and Drink – Finding those gaps

Anglesey and the North West has always found those niches and opportunities in the food and drink sector! From growing new varieties within Horticulture to inspire Chefs, to developing a taste of Anglesey cordial range, all based on understanding what customers want.

The three speakers will talk about their journey in the sector, how they found and developed their ‘gaps’ , how they see the future sector developing and where the gaps might be.

Greg Parson’s 30year career in the food and drink industry includes Whitbread plc, Unilever, Dairy Crest and latterly was a founding member of Somerset Larder, the food and drink hub created to service Hinkley Point. Greg is now working with Menter Môn on the Mon Larder project looking at equality of provision within public procurement and creation of opportunities for food and drink business’s in the North Wales.

Liam Barrie has worked within the hospitality sector for approx. 10years. Liam is one half of the Barrie Brothers team that have developed the Marram Grass restaurant from a café serving holiday makers to a fine dining restaurant that promotes local produce. The business is now on its 2nd phase of development which will include a restaurant in Liverpool, expansion of the Fat Pig Company and further developing a cooking school academy.

Alwyn Williams has worked with his father Medwyn on and off while he was pursuing a career in the Army. When Alwyn left in 2008, he become a full-time working partner, bringing development and technology to the growing area, while maintaining the heritage and quality of their seed stock that is purchased all over the world. Alwyn is a great believer in growing to what the customers need and helps other growers fulfil their potential. He also believes bring more people into the sector NOW is a top priority and a massive opportunity.
