Workshop A - How we can support Employers to support Education - from ‘old school’ to ‘new world’

Careers Wales offers an opportunity to learn about the new and exciting ways in which employers can be brought into the classroom – both physically and digitally. Come and find out about our current ‘offer’ to schools and the exciting plans we have for the future. We will be demonstrating some of our new developments – such as Careers Wales TV and our Virtual Reality headsets and can update you about our plans using augmented reality. We can also discuss with you our many education-employer projects and let you know about our ‘Education Business Exchange’.

Workshop B - Employment Opportunities for Ex-offenders

HM Prison and Probation Service in Wales are looking to develop closer partnerships with employers to help them develop learning, skills and employability provision in the prison which can lead to real jobs for ex-offenders on release from prison.

Workshop C – Apprenticeships - Everything you need to know

The Welsh Government’s Apprenticeship Skills Policy and Five Year Action Plan was launched in 2017, this workshop will provide an update on progress, system change and future challenges.

Welsh Government has also launched support for degree apprenticeships at Level 6 in the priority sectors of ICT/computing, engineering and advanced manufacturing. A progress report on the development of degree apprenticeships and opportunities will be covered in this workshop.

NTFW who support the work will provide information on how to get apprentices into your business and the service they provide to industry.

Workshop D – Supporting people with disabilities into employment

The Welsh Government’s Employability Plan recognises the importance of increasing the number of disabled people in work and is working with partners across the disability sector towards this aim and developing a number of actions to help close the disability employment gap in Wales. This workshop will look at these issues and discuss what more can be done.
