Event description

Description

As part of the Go Ultra Low North East campaign, a new Electric Vehicle Innovation Accelerator programme has launched to identify and develop ways to overcome barriers that are preventing the adoption of electric vehicles such as range anxiety, charging infrastructure and investment.

To launch the first wave of challenges, we will be hosting a workshop on Monday 25th March at the Urban Sciences Building on Newcastle Helix, which will consider how we can reduce the costs and complexity of installing charging infrastructure.

The workshop will also provide insight into the national ‘Road to Zero’ strategy, the Electric Vehicle industry including the current landscape and existing charging infrastructure.

You will also discover more about the new rapid charging hubs and filling stations opening soon in Newcastle and Sunderland.

The second wave of the programme will be launched in June 2019. The aim is for four new solutions to be ready for commercialisation or for significant further investment by October.
