Event description

Description

Over recent years, especially with the rise of safer more environmentally sound printmaking practice Electro etching has begun to be revived thanks to the research by people like: Nik Semenoff, Cedrick Green, and Alfonso Crujera.

The technique offers a wide range of features, graphic and innovative possibilities but has not enjoyed the same spread or level of acceptance as other safer printmaking processes - perhaps because of an unfounded fear of electricity, or the apparent "expensive paraphernalia" to set up an electro-etching unit. In truth, the electrical "know-how" is very simple, and you do not need expensive equipment. Electro etching offers all the creative possibilities of other less environmental techniques as well as some that are specific to this technique.

Line Drawing
Line Drawing with hard ground is the basis of creating an etched plate; the fundamental teaching of using a drawn line to produce a composition.

Aquatint
Aquatint in etching is the means in which varied tones are applied to the surface of the plate, in order to create various tones on the print itself.

All materials and notes are included in the price of this workshop. No previous experience of printmaking is required.
