Description

Aim

To ensure that those in charge of an electrofishing team are competent at leading a team and using the Scottish Fisheries Co-ordination Centre (SFCC) protocols for electrofishing procedures and recording data. To build on the skills and knowledge gained from the introductory course and experience in the field.

Client Group

Those experienced in fisheries management who are managing the catching of fish using electro fishing techniques, or environmental or ecology consultants who are monitoring fish populations or carrying out fish surveys.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed the Introduction to Electrofishing course (or eqivalent), a copy of their certificate must be supplied when booking. Applicants must also have completed a minimum of one full season of electrofishing prior to attending the course, written evidence from a qualified third party confirming this is required at the time of booking.

Background

As a team leader in electrofishing, you have a responsibility for making sure that the operation is being carried out safely following correct health and safety procedures. You also have a responsibility for ensuring that the data collected is robust and meets SFCC protocols. As a team leader you must be able to demonstrate you have the skills required to lead an electrofishing team which may include relatively inexperienced team members.

Award

SFCC Team Leader certificate.
