About this event

Health • Personal health

You are invited for our first dance ceremony in nature in the beautful Seaton valley in Cornwall. We will be moving and dancing with the land; the trees, the sky and the nearby brook. We will dance with headphones so as not to disturb nature, and to allow the opportunity to journey deeply within. The dance will be followed by a simple supper, fire and sauna.

As we enter the autumnal season of Mabon, it's time to harvest this year's abundance and thank our bodies for the hard work they have been doing over the summer. Let's ask Mother Nature and the elements and to support us in this dance of shaking off the old and making space for the new to emerge within us. We invite you to bring your own intention for the evening, and an item to place on the altar.

Supper will be a simple soup (vegan, gluten and allium free), bread (gluten free available) and fruit. Bring snacks to share if you wish.

Things to Bring

  • Comfy clothes and layers to dance with on the land and clothes to keep warm afterward.
  • Water bottle - drinking water is available on site to refill.
  • Towel and swimwear for sauna, river, and cold plunge bath.
  • Yoga mat, picnic blanket or cushion to sit on if the grass is a little wet. Chairs are also available.
  • Sacred items for the altar, and anything else that might enhance your experience.
  • A headtorch if you are walking back to the train station.
  • Waterproof jacket in case of rain.

Travel

The nearest train station is Menheniot station, which is a 10min walk to the sauna site. It's an unlit road so you will need a headtorch or something to light your way. Take a left out of the station and head down the road, over a little bridge and take the next right. The sauna is a little way along this lane and you will see signs at the cottage.

Train times

Outbound: Plymouth - Menheniot :17:00-17:31

Return: Menheniot - Plymouth : 22:36-23:00

Extras:

If arriving by car there is a car park next to the sauna in the field. Car sharing is a good idea. If the weather is especially bad we may dance under the marquee in the woodland close by.

Equity Invitation

We are thriving to work more with Equity lens when inviting people to choose the closest tiers for their life situation. We are aware that the 3 tier system always brings simplification of very complex individual situations. The aim is to work more with a percentage of your comfort & security & support than just purely income or ask everyone to pay the same.

We are inviting trust and aspiration for social justice & sharing the resources and privileges we all have for the benefits of all. As most privileges we each individually possess are part of a wider complex systemic and historical context than just purely individual.

You are also invited to consider for all bottles the following and how that might impact the tier closest to your living situation:

  • Your health situation especially chronic issues
  • How secure and comfortable you feel about your presence and future to cover your basic needs.
  • Any dependents you care for
  • Debts to cover basic needs
  • If your house you live in is or isn't mortgage free or soon to be mortgage free.
  • A relative high degree of earning power due to level of education, gender and ethnic/racial, language privilege, class background, etc. (Including debts for higher education, travels, etc beyond covering basic needs). Even if you are currently NOT exercising your earning power. The invitation is to see it as a choice.
