Description

Course title: Elements of research methodology for National Accounts Methods research

National Accounts methods should comply with Principle 4 of the Code of Practice for Official Statistics which states that ‘statistical methods should be consistent with scientific principles and internationally recognized best practices, and be fully documented. Quality should be monitored and assured taking account of internationally agreed practices’.

In order to achieve this, detailed new guidance and reporting requirements to the National Accounts Methods Advisory Committee (MAC) have been drawn up and widely circulated to all members of the Peer Group Discussion (PGD) and MAC. Compliance and the use of these by all researchers/compilers is now mandatory if their work is to be considered by MAC. In view of this, the objective of the training is to explain in detailed what standards are expected of researchers/compilers and, the structure and required content of the reports to be submitted to MAC.
