FIRETER is Bulgaria’s foremost street ‘shade and fire’ performance company, and the biggest group of its kind in South East Europe. It brings massive constructions, stilts, fire, acrobatics, dramaturgy and theater into outdoor performance. Its founder Plamen Ivanov and colleage Rozaliya Mitrova will tell us about their practice and their experience of working internationally in their ensemble. FIRETER currently works in many areas of theater by collaborating with various artists and creating costumes and unique constructions. They have performed in festivals like Glastonbury UK; Boom festival, Portugal and across Germany, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium and Lithuania.
Plamen Ivanov started as a performer as a fire juggling group in 1999. Making popular fire art at the end of the 90’s in Bulgaria. With his friends he developed the first fire performing group in Bulgaria and started using open air spaces and stilts as a part of their fire shows. In early 2009 he founded FIRETER. With the state puppet theater Plovdiv, FIRETER began Bulgaria’s street theater festival TheatAIR in 2012. And today it tours Europe.
Rozaliya Mitrova has worked as an artist, entertainer, choreographer, fire spinner and stiltwalker with FIRETERE since it was founded in 2009. She also works with Fire Theatre in Bulgaria. Before this she ran Uga Buga Art Collective, creating site décor for European festivals.
