Description

FIRETER’s Design & Movement Techniques for Character Creation

Two day practical workshop with Bulgarian FIRETER’s Plamen Ivanov & Rozaliya Mitrova

Thursday 17th & Friday 18th May 2018, 10.30am – 4pm at Cobden Works, Salford

Bulgarian based FIRETER is the biggest shade and fire’ performance company in South East Europe, their work brings together costumes and ambitious constructions with stilt and fire performance. Over two days FIRETER founders Plamen Ivanov and Rozaliya Mitrova will share some of their key making and performing techniques with you.

Over this workshop you will develop and make a character of you choosing, that you will bring to life through making and performance. Taking inspiration from FIRETER’s approach to costume creation, you will be given the opportunity to learn their papier mache technique for character creation. And explore how to bring these characters to life through performance. Touching on some of their expressive performance techniques that include stilt and fire performance.

This workshop is suitable for both makers and performers. And will especially benefit those interested in gaining a wider understanding of the different elements needed to bring a piece of street theatre to life.

Plamen Ivanov started as a performer as a fire juggling group in 1999. Founding FIRETER in 2009, where they create massive constructions, stilts, fire, acrobatics, dramaturgy and theater into outdoor performance. Rozaliya Mitrova has worked as an artist, fire spinner and stilt walker with FIRETERE since it was founded in 2009. Before this she ran Uga Buga Art Collective, creating festival site décor.
