Event Details

In this practical workshop, Steven will share some of the tips and techniques that he uses to make his award winning large-scale carnival costumes.  He will bring different kinds of packs to show various ways of rigging large costumes, and you will make a small wire back pack of your own.

More about Steven

Steven Hoyte has worked full time in the field of Carnival arts since 1999 and has been in the Rampage production team since 2002.  He specialises in frame building and wire bending, amongst other skills, and regularly shares this knowledge with students of all ages and backgrounds.

He has a passion for carnival and celebratory arts because he sees these art forms as the key to enhancing community spirit covering all abilities, age and backgrounds.

Who are these masterclasses for?
The masterclass is designed for North West artists and creatives, especially those interested in outdoor arts practice. 

Where is this masterclass held? 
Walk the Plank, Cobden Works, 37-41 Cobden Street, Salford, M6 6WF

The venue is a 20/25mins walk from Salford Crescent Train Station and bus stops are at the top of the road which connect into central Manchester. You may find the Manchester Travel Planner useful when planning your visit.

Is this masterclass free to attend?
The masterclass costs £45 - however it has been subsidised by Arts Council England and spaces are limited.
Two free places are available to individuals who would not be able to attend otherwise. Please email info@walktheplank.co.uk making a case for why you need a bursary.


If, after booking, you know that you can no longer attend, plaese contact us on learning@walktheplank.co.uk and we will release your place to the waiting list. Refunds are only available up to 7 days before the event.
