From the award-winning author of A Kind of Spark comes a new heartfelt and timely novel for middle-grade and teen readers.

Aeriel Sharpe doesn’t want to be anyone’s role model. But, when her mother is elected to be the most important politician in the country (yes, that one), she is thrust into the spotlight. With the world’s eyes on her, friends don’t seem that friendly and she feels trapped by everyone’s expectations.

They want her to be the voice of every autistic teenager, but Aeriel must find a way to speak for herself…

It’s not easy being thirteen… and it’s even harder when you’re the most famous teenager in the country.

Elle will talk about her new book before and audience Q&A and book signing.

Elle McNicoll is the author of A Kind of Spark, winner of the Blue Peter Book Award and the Waterstones Children's Debut Fiction Prize, and was crowned Blackwells Book of the Year in 2020. In 2023, A Kind of Spark was adapted by the BBC, which went on to win Best Children's Programme at the Royal Television Society and Broadcast Awards, as well as being nominated for an Emmy. It is listed in the 100 greatest children's books of all time.

Her other middle grade books include Show Us Who You Are, Keedie, Like A Charm, and Like A Curse. Elle is also the author of Young Adult romances Some Like it Cold and Wish You Were Her. She is a five time Carnegie nominee.

M.A. Kuzniar spent six years living in Spain, teaching English and travelling the world which inspired her children’s series The Ship of Shadows. She lives in Nottingham with her husband, where she reads and writes as much as can and bookstagrams @cosyreads.
