The exhibition Elusive Sense: On the Fluid Boundaries of Perception, part of the UK/Poland Season 2025, explores the evolving relationship between humans and technology, focusing on how our senses and identities are reshaped in a digital age. Featuring five Polish new media artists, the show probes whether technology enhances our sensory experiences or leads to dependency on artificial systems. Works by Iga Węglińska and Agnieszka Mastalerz highlight this tension: Węglińska envisions a fusion of body and technology where senses are augmented, while Mastalerz reveals the controlling and exploitative aspects of technological interactions.Other artists deepen this inquiry by examining digital permanence, natural beauty, and cultural memory. The collective panGenerator critiques the fleeting nature of digital images and the exhausting quest for online stimulation, while Kamil Czapiga presents microscopic ecosystems as a reminder of authentic wonder beyond CGI illusions. Janek Simon’s AI-generated sculptures question how artificial intelligence will impact cultural heritage and identity. Together, these works invite reflection on our cyborg present, where human and machine boundaries continuously blur without offering easy answers.
