About this event
'One day I must be able to improvise freely on the keyboard of colours: the row of watercolours in my paintbox.' - Paul Klee
This little {the Real Drawing is Thinking} life drawing + live music experience is inspired by art historian Hajo Duchting's popular book 'Paul Klee: Painting Music'.
A talented violinist as well as a painter, Paul Klee drew much of the inspiration for his abstract art from musical rhythms and structure. Like a composer, he developed and harmonised pictorial themes, weaving a complex series of signs and symbols into his painting. Klee also had a decade-long tenure at the Bauhaus, where the artist's theories and practice first merged and where he was to develop his Colour Spectrum, Square and Polyphone painting series that built his creatice path into an iconic abstract artist as we know him today.
Paul Klee created some of the most iconic images in all of art history; some little prompts will be provided to help you in getting more from them and having something new to say/think about the next time in museums.

If you enjoyed our previous little Bauhaus session, Ithell Colquhoun sessions, life-drawing jazz night, or any of our slightly unusual creative social gatherings, or if you are new to our world but looking for quick access to the joy of drawing and unstoppable creative flow, this event is for you, Early Masterworks is for you. 😎
And YES, you've guessed correctly: your favorite art muses will double as talented live music performers. If you wish, you are welcome to bring your own musical instruments and join the band during the breaks or after the drawing session. I mean, let's just have fun and create some real good times and memories together, right? :)
Our popular life drawing sessions have different themes every month. Please check https://www.instagram.com/earlymasterworkslifedrawing/ and https://linktr.ee/earlymasterworks for details.
