Silverdale Sustainable Transport Study – Silverdale Parish Council

Silverdale in North Lancashire is a popular visitor destination on Morecambe Bay and within the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape. In tackling major issues relating to increasing visitor numbers whilst encouraging residents to reduce their carbon emissions, the Parish Council and other local organisations are facing huge challenges within this rural and sensitive area. The path that led the Parish Council to apply for this Community Energy Fund Stage 1 project is explained and how the result is providing hard evidence of the current situation but also offering viable options that could improve local transport, connectivity within the village and the local economy, while protecting the environment.

Charge My Streets

Charge My Street is a social enterprise (Community Benefit Society) which installs and operates community EV chargepoints, raising money through community shares.
In this presentation, we will explore Charge My Street's innovative initiatives to enhance community sustainability through the deployment of community-owned electric vehicle (EV) chargers. These chargers, strategically installed in underserved areas, empower communities to actively participate in the transition to cleaner transport. Additionally, the integration of cutting-edge Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology will be discussed. By enabling bidirectional energy flows, V2X technology enhances grid resilience, supports renewable energy utilisation, and can provide backup power during disruptions, demonstrating how Charge My Street is shaping a more resilient and inclusive energy future.
