Description

Embedded Librarianship:

Join Jacqueline Beattie of Neftex and Genny Franklin of Barts Health NHS Trust who will share their take and experiences of embedded librarianship, generously sponsored by Sage

Jacqueline Beattie is an information, content and knowledge management professional. Her current role is Content Management Lead at Neftex, a Halliburton company. She has extensive experience in various sectors in leadership roles ranging from manufacturing to financial and professional services and the public sector.

What Embedded Librarianship means to Jacqueline: “Embedded librarianship means that the skills and knowledge we have as librarians are integral to the processes and workflows of the organisation. Also, the importance of these skills is acknowledged and recognised as contributing to the bottom line”.

Genny Franklin has been in library work for 10 years and an embedded clinical librarian for Obs & Gynae at the Royal London Hospital for the last 2.5 years. In addition, more recently she acts as Clinical Librarian to Neonatology and the rest of the Paediatric Directorate at the Royal London, Cardiovascular Directorate at the London Chest and Barts, with a small involvement with HEMS (helicopter emergency medical service) and A&E at the Royal London. Before this she worked for a variety of NHS Trusts in a variety of librarian roles. She completed her library Masters’ degree from UCL in 2008.

She holds a Psychology BSc from Lancaster University and a Philosophy MSc from Edinburgh University.

What Embedded Librarianship means to Genny: “Being there (sometimes at odd times and in odd places) for my team/friends and helping them find information so they can better help patients”.
