About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Being "trauma informed" means being able to recognise when someone may be affected by trauma, collaboratively adjusting how we work to take this into account and responding in a way that supports recovery, does no harm and recognises and supports people's resilience.

Aligning with Inverclyde's ambition to become a trauma informed and responsive local authority, this session will consider the key role of leadership in creating the culture and environments necessary for a trauma informed and responsive approach to be embedded throughout services and systems.

If you are in a line management or leadership role at any level, and whatever your prior knowledge of trauma informed practice may be, please join us for this session which aims to:

  • Introduce/refresh the principles of a trauma informed approach
  • Provide the context for a trauma informed and responsive approach in Inverclyde
  • Consider the responsibility of leadership at all levels in influencing culture and change
  • Offer an opportunity for reflection, discussion and planning from a leadership perspective

Pre-Learning

Before attending this session, it is asked that you complete module 1 of the National Trauma Transformation Programme Trauma Skilled e-modules (1.25 hours) either on Turas Learn (please see a guide to accessing here) or on Inverclyde Learns (available under the "Trauma Informed Practice" section).

Please note: We know that traumatic experiences are common. During this session, traumatic experiences will not be talked about in detail, and you will not be asked to share any personal experiences of trauma. However, topics discussed in the session can be emotive for many people, so please do consider your own wellbeing during and after the session.

Organised by

To support Inverclyde's ambition to become a trauma informed and responsive local authority, a series of in-person training sessions at Level 1 (Trauma Informed) and Level 2 (Trauma Skilled) are now available to anyone working or volunteering in Inverclyde.

To help determine which level of training may be best suited to your role, the National Trauma Transformation Programme has a flow chart tool on their website: https://www.traumatransformation.scot/knowledge-skills/

*Please note: if you plan to attend a Level 2 training session, there is no need to also attend a Level 1 session*

Further training dates will continue to be added so if there are currently no available spaces for the level you would like to attend, please join the Waitlist for one of these events and you will be contacted when further dates are added.
