Description

Embedding Art into Landscape Partnership Projects

Thursday 21st March 2019, 10 - 4.30

The Garage, Northlight, Glen Way, Brierfield, BB9 5NH

Caring for natural heritage is closely linked to how landscapes are valued culturally. This one day symposium will explore how contemporary artists can contribute to the environmental aims and strategies of Landscape Partnerships and environmental programmes.

It has been designed for landscape partnerships, landscape managers, restoration and conservation managers, peatland and wetland restoration managers, environment artists, eco-artists and environment organisations, other areas of outstanding natural beauty, and interested local communities.

Join us for a day of conversations, stimulating presentations and round table discussion about peat restoration and how working with artists creates new cultural connections with landscape and environment projects.

The day will explore collaboration across disciplines, how and why working with artists can add value to landscape and environment projects, and the collaborative processes and work in progress between artists and peat restoration managers at Galloway Glens and Pendle Hill Landscape Partnerships:

  • Challenges and opportunities
  • Refreshed and novel thinking around community engagement
  • Unexpected outcomes - beyond the obvious and immediate
