Embedding Social Value - From Strategy to Tender Success

Embedding Social Value - From Strategy to Tender Success

By GM Business Growth Hub @ The Growth Company

Overview

This will give you a deeper understanding of Social Value, the impacts it can have on communities and its part in public funding access.

Social Value gets us to think differently — about how our businesses can support communities, protect the environment, and make a positive impact for future generations.

In today’s world, businesses are expected to do more than deliver products or services. Public sector contracts now increasingly assess how organisations contribute to wider goals such as social wellbeing, local employment, and sustainability. Businesses that can demonstrate genuine Social Value — including environmental responsibility — are gaining a competitive edge in tenders and procurement.

This workshop helps you understand what Social Value really means and how to embed it within your organisation’s strategy to create meaningful impact. You’ll learn how to develop a Social Value Strategy and Policy, explore measurement frameworks, and see best practice examples from Greater Manchester that show how businesses are integrating sustainability and social impact into their operations.

You’ll also discover how environmental initiatives — such as reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and building a decarbonisation plan — can form a key part of your Social Value offer and help strengthen future tender submissions.

Topics include:

  • What is Social Value?
  • Legislation around social value
  • Why Social Value and sustainability matter for your organisation
  • Developing a Social Value strategy and policy
  • Measurement and reporting fundamentals
  • Best practice from Greater Manchester
  • Understanding climate change and building a decarbonisation plan
  • Q&A session

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the definitions and legislation around Social Value and sustainability
  • Know how to embed Social Value and green practices into your organisation’s strategy
  • Be equipped to start creating your own Social Value strategy or policy document
  • Recognise how sustainability initiatives can strengthen your bids and brand reputation
