Event description
Embers is a short series of evening retreats to help you explore your spiritual journey.

About this event

Embers is a short series of evening retreats aimed at helping a small group of people to explore their spiritual journey. Embers is open to absolutely anyone from Greenmount and the surrounding area, and we hope that you may find a warm welcome among the company of friends.

One of the consequences of the lockdown experience is that many of us have been forced down the road of the contemplative monk or nun. We have found ourselves pondering questions of a nature that we would not usually have time to explore. This may have left us with certain thoughts or experiences. Drawing on a wide range of Christian traditions including Ignatian spirituality, visio divina (reflection through the arts) and mindfulness, we hope to provide a space for you to reflect on such moments as these.

Some of us may be feeling cautious about going out and gathering in groups. We seek to create an intimate and caring space through keeping the group size limited. We also draw inspiration from the ancient words of the Bible saying that “a dimly burning wick God will not quench” (Isaiah 42.3). The small flame that burns within us, however fragile it might be, needs to be cupped by caring hands nurturing that flame into life.

Embers is being run by Tim Hopley (a member of Greenmount URC) and Rev’d Daniel Harris. For more details please email danielharris343@gmail.com.
