About this event

  • No venue parking

EMBLAZE Reading is a space for reading, expanding your literary horizons, discussing stories, and maybe making some new friends along the way.

Bring along a book that you’ve been meaning to read and relax into it alongside other readers. Or, if you’re stuck for choice, borrow a book from our Touring Bookshelf, an expertly chosen collection of diverse literature.

During each session we will be making some time for you to sit back and listen to readings from a diversity of genres, cultures, and readers, connected by a different theme each month. This curated selection of literature, short stories, book extracts, poems, and essays offers a chance to effortlessly try something new, with room to discuss and digest. There will also be time and a warm space for you to read by yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to read a certain book for discussion?

This isn't a conventional book club where we all discuss one book. Instead, this is a space where you can focus on reading any book you choose, in silence, alongside other readers. It is also a place where we celebrate and share books with you in the hopes that you'll pick up more in the future.

I'm not a reader! Can I come?

Absolutely! We want this event to introduce (or re-introduce) people to the wonders of reading, as much as celebrate those who live and breathe books. The Touring Bookshelf and our 'Readings' allow readers and non-readers alike to effortlessly find something that inspires them to pick up the habit.

Is there step-free access to the event?

Unfortunately, this event takes place on the second floor one of Bath's many listed buildings, with no step-free access. We're continuously striving to make our events accessible to all, and hope to introduce this event series to more accessible spaces in the future.
