About this event

Please note: this event is for over 18’s only.

In this webinar we will explore why collaboration of the entire supply chain is vital in the quest to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 but also fosters performance efficiency and innovation

Embodied carbon refers to the carbon emissions associated with the material extraction and manufacture, construction, maintenance, refurbishment, and demolition of a building and represents a significant portion of the total carbon footprint of buildings and infrastructure.

Reducing embodied carbon requires collaboration across the entire construction supply chain from the very beginning, as the selection of materials, adoption of construction techniques, and processes used will all impact on the embodied emissions of a project.

The webinar will begin with an introduction to embodied carbon in construction from the author of the CIOB Guide to Embodied Carbon in the Built Environment, and will then explore why the supply chain holds the key to getting to grips with this complex issue, drawing on the experience of Tier 1 Contractor Wates Construction, who are discovering that supply chain engagement can help avoid additional costs, improve quality, drive innovation and support their supply chain all at the same time.
