Event description

Description

What would it be like to recognise your habitual patterns, and have a practical way to train your body to do something different when they dont' serve you? Train the body and the brain follows .. it's one system.

How are you at saying 'No'? What about Giving and Receiving? Do you want to feel more courage, authority? Can you take up space and be seen or do you need to be more contained? How open are you to love, abundance or whatever it is you want? Are there times when you need to be more or less driven? What do you stand for in your life? How much joy can you bear?

In this 1 hour practical workshop you will physically explore how you respond to everyday encounters and recognise which qualities you want more of, what you need to do less of and how to achieve more balance in your life, using somatic embodiment.

How does it work?

Embodied Empowerment is a practical methodology using somatic coaching and Embodied Yoga Principles [EYP]. EYP offers a number of physical forms that represent psychological archetypes to develop self awareness and new ways of being.

The 26 forms and combinations/variations, based on a number of somatic practices such as Aikido, Yoga, Karate and Tai Chi, each represent common behavioural archetypes including ‘No’ ‘Yes’ ‘Giving’ Receiving’ Taking up space, Determination, Joy, Letting go, Authority and Vulnerability.

This is not psychotherapy.

It’s a holistic ‘bodymindbody’ way of learning about ourselves and how to embody different ways of showing up in the world.

When you assume a form or try on a different style of moving and are asked whether it’s familiar or where in your life might you need less or more of it, the realisations are powerful and the solutions are available.

The body’s response is immediate and offers a valid starting point for further inquiry. The learning is powerful because it engages the body before the mind. And your body always speaks the truth.

What happens on a Workshop?

We will agree that everything shared in the workshop is confidential and stays in the room.

In a group of maximum 16 participants, we will begin with somatic awareness relaxation followed by a short yoga warm up.

We will then spend the remaining 45 minutes experiencing and exploring some key archetypal postures. As you experience the forms you will be facilitated to experience the embodied sensation of whether this is familiar, what you need more of as well as what you want to experience less of.

This session incorporates feedback sessions in the form of 1-1 and voluntarily in the group with a coaching approach.

What will I take away?

Come with a willingness to explore and prepared to laugh, cry and even get ‘pissy’ but know that you will leave with more insights into how long-held patterns affect you and a practice to help you integrate new behaviours.

Some fascinating insights about yourself and others

You will leave knowing what forms you want to practice and be offered ways to work with them off the mat and outside the workshop.

This is about learning in the body not just in the mind. It's more effective because learning to physically embody what you want will help groove it into your neurology faster and more effectively than just ‘knowing’.
