Event description

Description

What is it?
This is a community of practice. Here we practice integrity. Integrity, or wholeness-in-connection, is the root of wellbeing, the source of “being lucky”, and the foundation of high quality relationships. Integrity is the absolute foundation of the ability to create real positive change: in the world, with your clients and colleagues, in your life.

Of course there is no such thing as “perfect integrity”; this is a place of practice for those who want to continue learning and developing. We ask participants to commit to four monthly sessions, but the programme is structured to support people who want to go much deeper over time.

Who is it for?

This programme is for those who want to master being fully alive, connected, and of service. Most of the people who have expressed interest in this community are wellness practitioners, movement teachers, coaches and facilitators: people who specialize in making lasting positive change in themselves and others.

What exactly do we practice?

We practice the Four Powers of Integrity: Appreciative Awareness, Authentic Communication, Creative Responsibility, and Impeccable Completion. This way of integration, transformation, and creation works from embodied mindfulness (breath, movement, attention) through conscious relationship to the outer limits of our impact on the world. It is fundamentally a practice of play.

The Four Powers framework is a synthesis developed by Nathaniel Whitestone from the work of Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks, Integral Theory, the work of systems scientists such as Gregory Bateson, Ilya Prigogine, Humberto Maturana, and Francisco Varela, organizational change disciplines such as Sociocracy and Appreciative Inquiry, the shamanic teaching of Bradford Keeney, and a variety of other sources. With this framework we can support ourselves, our clients, our teams and organizations.

Each monthly session will include basic practice focused on one of the Four Powers, advanced activities focused on issues brought by participants, peer to peer coaching using the structured Four Powers coaching process, and manifestation work focused on the long term goals of participants. We ask participants to make a commitment to participate for at least four sessions. The program is ongoing.

We cycle through these four sessions:

Session 1: Embodying the Power of Appreciative Awareness

Session 2: Embodying the Power of Authentic Communication

Session 3: Embodying the Power of Creative Responsibility

Session 4: Embodying the Power of Impeccable Completion

What will we do in a session?
Our exploration will include movement, breathing, guided awareness, coaching conversations, play in pairs or small groups, and whatever improvisational exercises come up from the needs or inspirations of the group. Mostly we will be indoors, but sometimes we may go outside.

The structure of a session starts with basic practice and an introduction to the Power of Integrity we are focusing on in that month. We will then do some advanced activities based on issues people are bringing on the day, and then break for lunch. After lunch, we do manifestation work bringing together all Four Powers and focusing on the creative goals of participants. Finally, we close.

When will we meet?
Our first session will be on the 29th of September. After that we will meet once a month, on the 3rd Friday. Each session will start at 11am and go to 2:30pm, with a 30 minute break for lunch.

Who are you and why are you teaching this stuff?
Well, really I am offering this because I find that my practice of integrity is more effective when I am doing it with a community of committed learning partners! But.. quick bio.. I trained with shamans in the American Southwest in the late 1990s and picked up my coaching and teaching qualifications through an apprenticeship with Drs. Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks. I've also taught chi gung and taekwon-do, and trained with some of the core Integral Theory folks. But my biggest learning in integrity has come from my practice in relationship with my wife; my practice with colleagues has offered a lot of learning too. The framework of The Four Powers of Integrity, and the practices around it, are my synthesis of my last twenty years of living and learning, and that's what I'll be sharing with you as a framework for our exploration together.

Why is there a sliding scale? How does it work?

We want the community of practice to be affordable to everyone who is committed to doing the work. It costs us about £60 just to put on a session, before paying anyone. I (Nathaniel) love giving my work away, but I also love being paid to do it! I know that people who take up the practice of integrity can completely transform their lives, relationships, and ability to contribute, so I know that this work is profoundly valuable. If you really don't have much money but you really want to do this work, contribute £30 a month. If you have plenty of money and you want to make this work financially rewarding for me, contribute £60 a month. If you have plenty of money and you want to help me offer this work to people who can't contribute as much, please put in £90 a month. Or you can choose your own number that you feel best reflects your resources and the way in which you want to contribute. If you want to save a few pounds by paying me directly by BACS, rather than going through Eventbrite, please contact me.

Do you guarantee this will be exactly the right thing for me?

Of course, I offer a 100% money back guarantee -- if you sign up and then you decide the course is not for you, I'll give your money back. But please do only buy a ticket if you feel clear that this is the right direction for you to explore!
