Join Tandi from Embrace Yoga, for a deeply relaxing yoga class that focuses on slow gentle movement, paired with breathwork to promote relaxation and stress relief. In this class, under the illuminated acultpureof the sun by renowned artist, Luke Jerram, we will move mindfully through a series of gentle yoga poses designed to release tension in the body and calm the mind. You will be guided through a series of slow, flowing movements that encourage you to move with intention and find ease in each pose.
Commissioned by the National Trust, Helios takes its name from the Ancient Greek personification of the Sun and follows Jerram’s acclaimed astronomical artworks Museum of the Moon, Gaia and Mars.
The artwork fuses high-resolution solar imagery with a specially created surround-sound composition by Duncan Speakman and Sarah Anderson, incorporating NASA recordings of the Sun. The sun will be suspended in the main space of the Market Hall, within the beautiful listed building.
As you move through the practice, you will be encouraged to listen to your body and honour its needs, adjusting the poses as necessary to find a comfortable and sustainable position. The instructor will offer modifications and you are invited to bring props with you if you have them, to support you in your practice, ensuring that everyone can participate at their own pace and level of ability, all abilities are welcome.
At the end of the class, we will come together for a guided relaxation and meditation, allowing you to fully unwind and let go of any remaining tension or stress. You will leave feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, and deeply relaxed, ready to face the rest of your day with a sense of calm and peace.
