Event description

Description

We are delighted to welcome Li Yu CFA to Edinburgh on the 24th October alongside a panel of industry practitioners to discuss the topic of embracing cultural diversity within the Investment Industry.

The Investment Industry, alongside many others, has much to improve in regards to gender, ethnic and social-economic diversity and as the benefits of improving are clear, there is no one-size fits all solution.

Our keynote speaker, Li Yu, is the chair of HSBC China Connect and a strong advocate in gender diversity. Li has spoken at a number of forums with a focus on diversity and inclusion, including at the CFA Institute Talent Summit and Asia-Scotland Institute International Women’s day business talk.

Li was shortlisted in the Chinese Business Leaders Awards in 2018 and most recently
came 32nd in the EMpower top 100 ethnic minority executives 2019 and the Chair of 100 Women in Finance Senior Practitioners Committee (UK).

Li will be joined by a panel of industry practitioners with a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives. They will explore a number of avenues around embracing cultural diversity in the Investment Industry, and the opportunities a diverse and inclusive workforce can bring. The panel will be a platform for being open and transparent about what should be improved and provide some insightful guidance around the means to do this.

SPEAKERS:
Li Yu CFA – China Specialist and Chair of HSBC China Connect
Andrew Fairbairn – Founder & CEO – Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO London)
Fernando Sanchez – Co-Chair of Unity, Standard Life Aberdeen’s ethnic minority employee network
Anna Ritchie Allan – Executive Director of Close the Gap
