Do I have to come for the whole day?

The day has been designed to run as a whole day.  However, we understand that not all parts of the day may appeal, so you can join/leave for specific talks and workshops, or just to visit the market stalls to get more information.

Where can I park?

Abbey Street has free on street parking all day on a Sunday. Spaces are limited. On street parking is also available on Church Road, Cyprus Road, Westgate Road, Whitstable Road and Gordon Square.

Question 3

What are the nearest public transport links?

Accepted Answer

Faversham train station is a 10 minute walk from the venue.  The nearest bus stops are East Street, Court Street and Newton Road.  All a 5 minute walk from the venue

Question 4

Is lunch included?

Accepted Answer

There will be an hour's lunch break. A limited number of vegan, locally sourced ciabatta sandwiches will be available (pre book only - book a lunch voucher ticket) or you can bring your own packed lunch. Plenty of places to get food in town, too.

Question 5

What if I find the day emotionally challenging?

Accepted Answer

We hope the day will be comforting and life affirming. We know it may also bring up grief.  We ask you to look after yourself emotionally during the day - ask for support if you need it, take a break, bring a friend. There will be volunteers around to talk to if you need.

Question 6

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Please bring a water bottle -you can refill it from the cafe on site. Cash for buying hot drinks from the Physic Garden cafe.  A journal /notebook if you want to take notes. You may want to bring a blanket and cushion to make yourself comfy. Warm clothes - we'll be outside.

Is it outside?

Yes, we'll be based in the Abbey Physic Community Garden - a beautiful walled garden. There are some covered areas, but no fully indoor areas.  Most of the day will be held under a marquee - so we should be sheltered from any rain (or strong sunshine - here's hoping!) but it may be cold.

Can children come?

Children are welcome to come. We believe that talking about death and dying in an age appropriate way is helpful to answer children's questions and ease anxiety about a natural part of life. However, the talks are aimed at adults and it may be a long (boring!) day for children.

Question 9

Are there toilets?

Accepted Answer

There is one composting toilet on site. Additional public toilets can be found at Standard Quay at the end of Abbey Street, and at Tesco.  Both a 5 minute walk away.

Question 10

Is is wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

The Abbey Physic Community Garden has wide paths and aims to be accessible to people using wheelchairs or mobility aids. The talks will be held on a grassy area, but there should be access for wheelchairs. Please let us know if you would like a space saved.

Question 11

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Well behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep them on a lead and take responsibility for keeping them occupied/quiet during the talks and presentations to avoid disruption for others.
