A medieval embroidery workshop, hosted by Tanya Bentham from Opus Anglicanum Embroidery!

About this event

An exciting embroidery workshop, hosted by Tanya Bentham from Opus Anglicanum Embroidery, taking place on Friday 18 June at 15:15-16:45 as part of the White Rose Medieval Graduate Conference.

At the workshop, participants will work on a special design based on the Morgan Library’s Book of Hours France, Paris, ca. 1425-1430, MS M.453 fol. 175r.

When you register, we will put you in contact with Tanya Bentham to arrange payment and delivery for the kit.

By registering for this workshop as part of the conference, you will receive this embroidery kit for the discounted price of £20 (plus postage). It contains:

  • Canvas marked with the design
  • A needle
  • Wool, silk, and metal threads

You will also receive a downloadable PDF with instructions and passwords to access 3 x 30 minute video tutorials:

  • Part One: a simple sea shell in laid and couched work, for practice
  • Part Two: the mermaid up to the point where her torso is outlined
  • Part Three: working the flesh in silk

We recommend you watch these tutorials before the workshop, which will be a live demonstration with Q&A/troubleshooting!

Delivery costs are as follows:

  • UK - £3.50
  • Europe - £6
  • Elsewhere - £10

You must buy your kit by Thursday 27 May (EU or international shipping) or Thursday 10 June (UK shipping) to ensure your kit arrives in time for the workshop.
